22. (FOR HIGH LEVEL 2) MAKE CONCRETE EXAMPLES. LET’S EXPERIMENT.
This is very important one. When you can’t understand the meaning of the question, don’t stop! Write down concrete examples! For example, I refer to a problem about “sequence”, defined by natural numbers. Then, you can input 1, 2, 3, … into symbol “n” and you will get some samples. This action will give you some hints or logics or solutions. After this, you will be able to make a answer in general “n”.
A sample problem is here.
When you see this, begin with using the 5th method, “Let the quantity as b_{n}.” Next, calculate b_{1}, b_{2}, b_{3}. You will get b_{1}=1, b_{2}=2, b_{3}=4. Then you will get the answer b_{n}=2^{n-1}. (“^” means “power”. 4^2=16.)
The remaining work is proving your answer. Make a logic that your answer is correct. And write down your answer on your paper. I hope you understand what I want to say.
See you next.
